How to Apply for NYSC Relocation Online

Are you considering applying for redeployment or relocating from your current state of deployment and you don’t know how to go about it? You don’t have to worry yourself too much, in this article, we are going to explain how to apply and get your NYSC relocation approved.

Although every corps members have the right to apply for a relocation or redeployment, but before doing that, NYSC expects you to have a genuine reason for considering relocating from your current state of deployment.

It is normal to want to relocate away from your initial state of deployment when you see your Call-up letter because of some reasons best know to you.

Requirements for NYSC Relocation

Listed below are the acceptable grounds for NYSC relocation/redeployment:

1. Health/Medical Issues
2. Marital Grounds
3. Security

1. Health/Medical Grounds:

You can apply for relocation on the basis of health grounds, if you have any reoccurring illness that requires you to be closely monitored by your medical doctor. However, when filling the form, you will be required to provide a medical report from a recognized medical institution (preferably public medical centre).

2. Marital Grounds:

This normally applies to female corps members who are married and wishes to relocate to the state of residence of their husband.

However, since you are applying for relocation or redeployment based on martial status, you are expected to attach the following credentials:

• Marriage certificate
• Husband ID Card
• A document showing change of name in any of the National Newspapers and
  Court Affidavit (Change of Name)
• Proof of domicile of husband or a letter from your husband’s workplace which can also serve as an evidence that your husband is resident of the state you want to relocate to. (Note that the letter should be addressed to the Director General of the NYSC through the State Coordinator).
• Husband’s ID card
• O’level Result

3. Security:

While NYSC have the right to deploy you to any state to serve in Nigeria, there are some states that are affected by Boko Haram insurgents and other sort of insecurity. You can easily apply for relocation stating the reason as security-related issue.

There are two ways you can apply for NYSC relocation; application within the camp or online application on the NYSC website three months into the service year.

1. Application within the camp

One of the ways you can apply for relocation/redeployment is during the 21-day orientation course in the camp. Normally, interested corps members will be given the opportunity to apply for relocation.

Starting from 2024 Batch A, the relocation process has been completely digitalized, meaning that you no longer have to fill any paper form, instead you will fill and apply for the relocation online on your NYSC dashboard. While filling the form, they will be expected to state the reason for applying for relocation and a copy of the following documents should be attached with the form:

Documents Required for Relocation in Camp

1. State the reason for relocation.
2. Evidence for reason to redeploy (e.g Marriage Certificate or Medical Report)

2. How to Apply for NYSC Relocation Online

1. Login to your dashboard at https://www.portal.nysc.gov.ng/
2. Scroll down and click on “relocation“
3. Fill in your details appropriately into the fields provided.
4. Upload the supporting documents e.g marriage certificate or medical report etc.
5. If your application is approved, you will have to pay for and print out the relocation letter.

How to Pay for NYSC Relocation Letter Online

Now, let’s walk you through the process of how to pay for your your NYSC relocation letter using the Remita payment portal:

1. On your dashboard, look for the option that says “pay and print your relocation letter.”
2. Select your payment option by clicking the field. It will show a payment confirmation.
3. Under “Remita Status,” click “pay now.”Confirm your details.
4. Click “proceed to payment.”Enter your ATM card details.
5. Click “pay NGN 1176.”

Note: There is a commission charge of N176 in addition to the N1000 relocation fee.

How to Print NYSC Relocation Letter

The process of paying for and printing out your relocation letter is very straightforward. Simply follow the steps listed below:

1. Login to your dashboard at https://www.portal.nysc.gov.ng/
2. Scroll down and click on “Relocation”.
3. You will be required to make a payment of #1000 (one thousand Naira only).
4. Print your relocation letter (colour) which you will take with you along with your green card to the local government secretariat for clearance.
